The Community Mosaic, inspired by the fish head logo of Pompano Beach, was made largely by the Pompano public. Eric Newcombe, aka Marbles, aka Post Relative, brought the piece to community markets, fairs and events, and set up tables with random objects, paints, scissors, tools, and varying adhesives so that the community could do literally whatever they felt like doing to it. Most put love and attentive care into the piece; some were rather abusive. All were free to express whatever they wished. When it felt complete, Newcombe splattered enamels and broken mirror shards all over it, and glazed it in clear cast resin, two separate sessions.
Being that it is a Community mosaic, 50% of the sale will go to charity, and we can decide which one together.
